Day One Hundred Twenty-One: Hanshew Middle School is located in South Anchorage and is attended by 800 seventh and eighth graders. The school track is used by students and the community at large. This feature keeps me coming back. I remember walking many miles on this track over the years. If you hit the “golden hour” light you will be provided a beautiful glow of sunsets and a gorgeous view of the mountains. Walking in a circle doesn’t keep my interest forever so I often wander onto the woodsy trail system. You can play frisbee golf, basketball, soccer, and a lot of other activities on the surrounding fields. If you live in Anchorage you know Hanshew. If you are a visitor, check it out for an easy outdoor place to get your steps.
